A leading UK florist appointed GB Warehouse Solutions to deliver a full warehouse relocation from London to the Midlands.
We moved their vast event, wedding and Christmas decoration inventory and also advised on a storage layout built around how the business actually operates.
The Warehouse Relocation Challenge
This was a fragile goods move (not a tradtional pallet move). Faux florals, glassware, ceramics, lanterns, arches and a full Christmas range are light, awkward and easily damaged – and the statement pieces were harder still.
Tall crystal chandeliers were too tall to lie flat and hung with droppers that chip on contact. Decorative bird cages dent under almost no pressure and spring out of shape once crushed. Neither travels in a box off the shelf.
Timing was equally tight. Wedding bookings and the Christmas programme are fixed months ahead, so the relocation had to be sequenced without breaking continuity of supply.
Our Specialist Warehouse Moving Solution
Handling matched to the goods: Every category was surveyed, packed and labelled to suit its fragility rather than its dimensions.
Bespoke handling for awkward items: Chandeliers were protected dropper by dropper, braced upright and moved as planned two-person lifts. Bird cages were individually contained so the wirework couldn’t snag or take load.
Storage layout advice: We advised on re-structuring the new warehouse space around picking for events, checking hire stock back in, and preparing for seasonal pick-up – frequently used lines accessible, dormant ranges to height and depth, bulky items given cube without stealing prime space.
One contractor, end to end: Survey, move plan, packing, transport, offload and handover – all handled by the same company.
Safe Packing and Transport
Work was carried out to RAMS in full PPE, with manual handling controlled throughout. Sharp items – glass, ceramics, cut wirework, chandelier arms – were wrapped and contained so nothing could protrude and cut handling staff, and cartons were weight-limited to be carried safely. Loads were built and secured to travel: heavier low, fragile protected, nothing free to shift on the London – Midlands run.
